Widia adds VariMill II ER and VariDrill to Vari family of versatile job shop tools

The VariMill II ER and VariDrill are additions to the Widia Vari tool familiy that is aimed at general engineering job shops tackling small batches.

VariMill II ER end milsl are available in Widia's standard product portfolio in diameters from 10 to 25 mm. Designed to offer superior performance and the ability to rough and finish with one tool in slotting, ramping, and plunging operations, these solid carbide end mills are engineered with eccentric relief (ER) for greater edge strength, higher feeds and higher metal removal rates. The design features unequally spaced flutes, a proprietary core shape and end geometry while the coating helps to support extremely heavy cuts and long tool life while virtually eliminating tool chatter, says Widia. VariMill II ER is described as especially effective in roughing and semi-finishing applications in titanium, stainless steels, high temperature alloys, and nickel and carbon-based alloys. The tool features Haimer's Safe-Lock to reduce pull-out risk. The VariDrill is engineered to extended tool life across a wide range of materials, including steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous materials, and high temperature alloys. They have been optimised for multi-purpose drilling operations and features advanced point geometry to reduce chipping on the cutting edge in a 'marginless' design aimed at reducing friction. The VariDrill portfolio includes 3XD, 5XD non-coolant, and 3XD, 5XD and 8XD through-coolant lengths in 1 to 20 mm diameters. The Vari portfolio is designed to cover every diameter, length/diameter ratio, and coolant option that the end user might need so that a limited inventory can address a wide variety of customer needs.
