Walter offers versatile Prototyp Prototex Eco Plus tap for through hole threads
The Prototyp Prototex Eco Plus tap from Walter GB has been designed for through-hole threads with a depth of up to 3.5 times diameter in a wide range of steel, stainless steel, cast iron and non-ferrous metal workpieces to help users reduce their tap inventory.
The Prototyp Prototex Eco Plus tap benefits from a novel pre-treatment, which generates improved adhesion of the THL hard material coating to the tool body. This results in performance and tool life increases of up to 60% compared to conventional taps, claims Walter.
The versatility of the tool is aided by its availability in a comprehensive range of designs. For example, it can be supplied with internal cooling with a radial coolant outlet, with a TiN coating rather than the THL, while a left-hand version is also available. It can also be used with minimum quantity lubricant (MQL).
The Prototex Eco Plus complements the Prototyp Paradur Eco Plus for thread generation in blind holes.
