Tungaloy turning inserts

Now available from the Tungaloy Corporation is the exciting new PSF & PSS range of turning inserts for medium to finish machining of steel and stainless steels. The new positive geometry inserts incorporate a well balanced chipbreaker to provide remarkable tool life, chip control and surface finishes on a variety of turning applications.

For finish machining processes, the PSF series of inserts have a steep protrusion that guarantees a consistent curl diameter of the chips to improve the removal of swarf from the cutting area. The PSF inserts also incorporate an innovative two-step rake angle that reduces the contact area on the rake face. This combination delivers exceptional chip control that reduces the cutting forces and offers surface finishes way beyond that of competitor products. The PSF series operates at a depth of cut from 0.1 to 0.5 mm with a feed rate of 0.05 to 0.3 mm/rev. The new PSS series of inserts for medium to semi finishing processes have an arc shaped protrusion to improve chip flow and enhance tool life while an inclination on the cutting edge stabilises the cutting performance with low cutting forces. The PSS range of inserts has an extremely sharp cutting edge that prevents swarf adhesion and improves tool life. This optimum insert geometry has a smothered protrusion that further reduces cutting forces. The extremely low cutting forces enable the PSS to machine at a depth of cut from 0.3 to 2 mm with a feed rate from 0.08 to 0.3 mm/rev. Initially available with Tungaloy's AH725 insert grade. The AH725 grade is produced from micro grain carbide that improves wear resistance and toughness to prevent plastic deformation, fracturing and chipping. Attached to this micro grain carbide is a TiAlN super flash coating that adds to the hardness and toughness of the cutting edge. The combination of superior wear and impact resistant PVD coating material "AH725" and new surface technology "PremiumTec" can stably realize long tool life in machining steel and stainless steel.
