Tornos Swiss DT 13 set for release in early 2016

Tornos’ Swiss DT 13 will be hitting UK shores in early 2016. With five linear axes and two C axes, this Swiss-type lathe offers maximum feed rates of 35 mm/min and L-type kinematics, while the spindles can be operated up to a maximum speed of 15,000 rpm.

The machine is equipped with a newly developed motorised guide bush (which can be removed if required to run shorter parts) that synchronises with the main spindle through the total speed range. According to Tornos, the guide bush improves machining accuracy and surface finish, and can save valuable cycle time seconds due to rapid acceleration and deceleration times.

The DT 13 has been developed for bar capacities up to 13 mm, with barstock preparation from 10 mm. It is equipped with 21 tools including seven driven tools.
