Studer S141 grinder suits workpieces of all lengths

The S141 cylindrical grinding machine from Studer has been redesigned from the ground up. The series is available in different variants for workpieces with maximum lengths of 300, 700 and 1300 mm. Studer says that the machine is aimed at manufacturers grinding chuck components, spindle shafts, spindle housings, rotor shafts or axles. Highlights include:

• The machine bed, which comprises a patented Granitan S103 mineral casting with good damping characteristics to ensure high surface quality. • The grinding spindle turret has four grinding spindles, including a maximum of two external grinding spindles. Internal grinding quills of lengths up to 265 mm can be used. • The workpiece table can be swivelled automatically from -10° to +20° via the machine control system for the axis-parallel grinding of tapers. • The workhead can be driven directly or via a belt, as required. • The steady-rest is designed for internal grinding and enables simple set-up and universal use.
