Schunk unveils PR2, PDU2 and PSM2 rotary modules

Schunk has enlarged its mechatronic product line with the PR2, PDU2, and PSM2 rotary modules. The systems offer compact, intelligent drives for industrial applications. Each module features integrated electronics, so no external controller is needed.

Although equipped with standard plug connections, control can also be performed by Profibus (up to 12 Mbit/s) or CAN-Bus (up to 1 Mbit/s). For commissioning and use with a PC, the Schunk motion tool and modules are equipped with a USB connection. This enables them to be addressed manually by means of an adjustable rotary encoding switch.

Due to the integrated harmonic drive, the PR2 rotary module and the PDU2 drive for linear axes achieve torques of between 16 and 184 Nm, depending on module size.

The directly-driven PSM2 module can be used for fast movement of small masses. It is compact and achieves a torque of 1.8 Nm up to 4,320 rpm.
