Schunk produces flattest yet Vero-S NSE mini quick change pallet module

Schunk believes that its 20 mm high, 90 mm diameter and 20 mm clamping pin diameter Vero-S NSE mini is the flattest pneumatic quick-change pallet module in the world.

The Vero-S NSE mini lends itself to retrofitting on to existing machines while a patented drive concept that provides a fast stroke and a clamping stroke ensures that the end-user has full use of the work envelope to allow the direct clamping of small workpieces. An integrated turbo function provides pull-in forces of up to 1,500 N. The clamping pin is positioned via a short taper and is fixed with three clamping slides. Self and form-fitted locking is performed mechanically using spring force. The large contact surfaces between the clamping slide and pin minimise the surface pressure when working in an unclamped condition. As the minimum clearance between two clamping pins amounts to 100 mm, the NSE mini has particularly small and variable gauges for bore holes for workpiece and pallet clamping. The clamping pins of the quick-change pallet systems are directly screwed in the workpiece. Even small workpieces can be directly clamped in this way and completely machined from five sides without interference. Components are quickly exchanged in the machine and can be positioned, fixed and clamped in the modules with a repeat accuracy of less than 0.005 mm. To optimise accessibility, the clamping height of the workpieces can be adjusted with module height extensions. This allows the machine's spindle to reach all five sides of a workpiece without special tooling. All functional components in the NSE mini, such as the base body, clamping pin and clamping slide, are made from stainless steel. The modules are protected against chips, dust and coolant and the base plate can be provided with a bore hole for an air purge connection underneath the opening of the clamping pin to avoid chips jamming when the workpieces are changed over. If the modules are loaded automatically, the clamping slide positions can also be monitored.
