Schunk has introduced data matrix coding system that allows for intelligent toolholder management. Regardless of whether it is done manually by smart phone, or fully automated using a machine tool scanner, every toolholder can now be identified with the help of a specific code. Combining this with a corresponding database system means toolholders can be assigned to the exact machine tool or process.
Within the framework of intelligent manufacturing it is now possible to generate a precise history together with data from a central system that includes sites of operation, tools used, service life and machining parameters. In contrast to adhesive RFID tags, which require rebalancing of the toolholders, a data matrix code is permanent and has no influence on balancing quality.
Individual marking can be undertaken for every Tendo hydraulic expansion toolholder (except Tendo E Compact) and with every Tribos polygonal toolholder.
