Remote part alignment now offered for WARDJet water jet cutting tables

A Live Remote Programming Camera is a new feature of the WARDJet X-Classic or XL controllers purchased with WARDJet water jet cutting tables.

It joins free remote access, live video and voice-over IP (VOIP) customer support. The new capability can be used to support accurate and fast edge alignment of the metal sheet on the cutting table as well as reverse engineering/digitising applications. In operation, the metal sheet to be cut is positioned anywhere on the WARDJet cutting table and in any orientation. The Remote Programming Camera is mounted above the table and the image of the material can be viewed on the machine's controller or, for remote applications, over the internet, on a PDA or mobile phone. The camera's cross hairs are used for accurate positioning of the part to be cut. Reference points on the material are taken and a CNC cutting code, which includes details such as speed of cut required and type of material, is downloaded to the WARDJet controller as a cutting file. Subcontractors who may not have reverse engineering capability can also benefit from the ability of the camera to digitise a large part, such as a template where no drawing is available. When cutting expensive raw material, typically used for aerospace applications, sheet yield is paramount and Remote Programming Camera helps to maximise material utilisation.
