Parting, grooving, turning system expanded

The MSS-SXhighlight has been broadened.

MSS-SXhighlight is a parting system that can also be used for grooving and longitudinal turning at feed rates up to 0.3 mm/rev at up to 3 mm depth of cut using a range of inserts in 1 mm widths from 2 through to 6 mm wide.

"We originally had 32 mm blades and standard inserts with the WNT -M2 chipformer," says Adrian Fitts, WNT (UK)'s business development manager. "The range has now been extended with a series of 26 mm blades for smaller lathes, allowing the majority of our customers to benefit from the efficiency, strength and precision of the MSS-SXhighlight system." In addition the range of inserts has been developed to include the new -M1 chipformer. With its stable cutting edge it is ideally suited to machining higher strength materials, while at the same time delivering perfectly controlled swarf and process stability. Available in left- and right-handed styles they are capable of producing either pipless parts, or barstock, depending on the customer's preference. WNT has also introduced a range of MSS modules that fit onto a varied range of toolholders, including round shank holders for internal work. This modular approach to parting and grooving provides users with the same interface for all of their parting, grooving and threading applications. Combined with this is the systems ease-of-use, stability, rigidity and enhanced machining performance.
