Nikon Metrology extends CMM range with Altera+

The Altera ceramic bridge CMM range from Nikon Metrology has been extended by the introduction of the Altera+. Now comprising 30 standard models and seven bridge sizes, the core Altera programme offers machines from the smallest measuring volume, 700 by 700 by 500 mm, up to the largest, 6,000 by 2,000 by 1,500 mm.

Altera+ includes standard sizes ranging from 800 by 700 by 600 mm to 2,500 by 1,000 by 800 mm. In addition, probing support is extended with Revo 5-axis scanning technology from Renishaw.

The ceramic guideways of the Altera range facilitate accuracy of 1.4+L/375. In addition, the ceramic bridge is resistant to temperature variation, while the stress-free, horizontal ceramic beam and multi-point bearings are said counter any negative effect on accuracy when using long probes.

Further features include folding guideway covers to protect the air bearing guideways from airborne contaminants such as dust and oil, and self-levelling vibration isolators.

Software options consist not only of Camio and CMM-Manager, but also Modus to operate the Renishaw Revo-2 probe head.
