Multi-axis turning centre boasts twin opposing spindles and turrets

Featuring a pair of turning heads and tooling turrets with identical performance characteristics, the new Goodway GTS-260XY CNC multi-axis turning centre offers complete machining of complex components in a single set up. With a maximum turning diameter of 280 mm and a bar capacity of 65 mm diameter, both the horizontally opposed spindles on the GTS-260XY are fitted with 10 inch chucks and are powered by 15 kW motors providing speeds of 40 to 4,000 rpm. Parts can be automatically transferred from the main to the second spindle, which has a 700 mm Z2 axis travel. The maximum turning length of 200 mm can be fully used as longer parts can be supported by the second spindle using the spindle synchronise RPM feature. All linear movements operate on solid box ways to absorb the high cutting forces. The 190 mm X1 and X2 axes have rapid traverse rates of 20 m/min, while the 270 mm Z1 and 700 mm Z2 axis travels feature rapid traverse rates of 24 m/min. A generous 120 mm Y-axis (± 60 mm over the centreline) on both the 12-station tooling turrets allows milling, drilling and tapping operations to be carried out on even the most complex components.
