The mainstay of the cell is a Fanuc M20iA 6-axis robot (with Fanuc R30iB controller) that has a maximum payload of 20 kg and reach of 1,420 mm. The robot is supplied with a standard interface connector that makes it compatible with a number of Doosan machines. Serval comes with an icon-driven Pro-face GP4601T analogue touch-panel control.
A key strength of the Serval system is said to be its small footprint, which measures 2,750 by 1,360 by 2,400 mm (L,W,H).
Serval is equipped with two load/unload Schunk grippers; either two or three fingers. In addition, the system operates with separate in-feed and out-feed conveyors (four trays in; four trays out).
