Mapal expands indexable insert milling cutter range

Mapal is expanding its range of milling cutters with ISO indexable inserts to include newly developed tools. These include 75° face and 90° tangential shoulder milling cutters for the machining of steel and cast iron, which feature a close pitch to aid high feed rates. Also introduced are 45° face and 88° tangential shoulder mills that Mapal says can produce large cutting depths on steel, stainless steel and cast iron. These cutters offer four useful cutting edges per LTHU tangential indexable insert.

The indexable inserts deployed by Mapal are tangentially embedded so that the machining forces are first absorbed over the whole cross-section of the cutting edge. Only very small loads are transmitted to the tool body, resulting in improved machining quality.

Mapal is also launching 45° face milling cutters with eight-sided OFMT radial indexable inserts, which offer cutting depths of up to 10 mm.
