Innovative configuration for Miyano turning centre

Miyano has used a totally new configuration for its 6-axis BNA-42 DHY compact, fixed-head turning centre.

The turning centre combines a 42 mm bar capacity with a secondary spindle, an eight-station, all-driven, Y-axis turret capable of providing up to 16 tool positions and a totally independent six-station sub turret. The innovative configuration of the machine with its spindle and turret arrangements mean that, compared to a single turret turning centre, achievable cycle times when running 'one-hit' operations should be around 20% faster, it is claimed. According to Citizen, it is the flexibility to apply tools on the 16 position (8 driven) main turret, with + 35 mm of Y-axis cross feed and availability of special configurations of toolholders to service both spindles in conjunction with overlapped movements from the six-station sub turret, that enable significant increases in productivity to be achieved. Both spindles are a special flat type that enhance the compact structure of the machine, which requires 2.2 by 1.4 m of floor space. The main and secondary spindles are powered through 7.5 and 5.5 kW drives respectively with both capable of 5,000 rpm. The main turret's eight driven positions are powered by a 2.8 kW, 5,000 rpm motor with an index time of 0.2 seconds per station. Rapid traverse rates are 20 m/min in Y, Z and B axes. The turning centre is available through Citizen Machinery UK.
