Haas introduces ST-20 Super Speed compact Y-axis lathe

The Haas ST-20 Series Y-axis turning centres – available now in Super Speed as well as standard configurations – provide 101 mm of Y-axis travel (50.8 mm from the centreline) for off-centre milling, drilling, and tapping, and come as standard with high torque live tooling and a servo-driven C axis for versatile 4-axis capability.

The standard ST-20Y has a maximum cutting capacity of 304 by 520 mm, and is equipped with a 12-station hybrid BOT/VDI turret. The A2-6 spindle turns to 4,000 rpm and features an 8.3 inch hydraulic chuck and a 2.0 inch bar capacity. A 20 hp vector drive system yields 203 Nm of torque at 700 rpm. Rapids are 24.0 m/min on the X and Z axes, and 18.03 m/min on the Y-axis. The new Haas Super Speed ST-20SSY has a maximum cutting capacity of 254 by 520 mm, and it is equipped with a 24-station hybrid BOT/VDI turret. The A2-6 spindle turns to 5,000 rpm. A 30 hp vector drive system yields 155 Nm of torque at 1,380 rpm. Rapids are 24.0 m/min on the X-axis, 30.5 m/min on the Z-axis, and 18.0 m/min on the Y-axis. Both machines provide a maximum swing of 806 mm over the front apron, with a 527 mm swing over the cross slide. Standard equipment includes high torque live tooling with C-axis, rigid tapping, spindle orientation, a 15 inch colour LCD monitor, and a USB port. High productivity options available include a belt-type chip conveyor, automatic tool probe, automatic parts catcher and high pressure coolant systems
