Fanuc claims M-2000iA/1700L is world’s strongest robot

Fanuc has launched what it says is the strongest robot in the world, the M-2000iA/1700L. The robot that can lift and position payloads up to 1.7 tonnes in a reach of up to 4.7 m.

The M-2000iA/1700L's six axes and IP7 protected wrist makes it an agile weightlifter, moving and placing objects within a large working area to a high degree of precision, says the company.

According to Fanuc, the robot can automate areas of heavy material handling, lowering the risk of damage to production material, reducing running costs and improving overall cycle times and workflow.

Chris Sumner, vice president of Fanuc Europe and managing director at Fanuc UK, says: "We identified a need to increase the efficiency of the heavy materials handling process for manufacturers, specifically within the automotive industry."

The M-2000iA/1700L will be showcased in October at the EMO 2015 exhibition in Milan.
