The taps are offered in two coating versions and with or without internal coolant supply. Both versions cover M, MF, UNC, UNF and G thread systems. The TiN-60 coated version is for steel materials, particularly those with a tensile strength between 600 and 1,000 N/mm². The latest TiN coating is said to offer increased hardness, reduce friction and improve wear resistance. For materials such as stainless steel, cast aluminium and copper alloys, the GLT-1 coated version is the preferred choice.
Both the TiN and GLT-1 coated versions have in common the HSSE-PM substrate material and specific geometric parameters, including longer flutes for better chip evacuation, a back taper for preventing chip jams and increased resistance to abrasive materials.
