The NMR double-sided chipbreaker is said to provide a reliable option for longitudinal and face turning at high stock removal rates in medium and roughing operations. This is thanks chiefly to its strong cutting edge with protective peripheral land. The NMR is available for Dormer Pramet inserts that include CNMG, DNMG, SNMG and TNMG.
Dormer Pramet has also launched a range of wiper inserts for turning. Compared to standard inserts, the W-FM (single-sided) and W-NM (double-sided) wiper inserts are said to promote increased productivity by supporting higher feeds, as well as high quality machined surfaces. If used correctly, they can prevent the need for additional grinding operations, the company says.
