Dormer Pramet releases tangential milling programme

A range of tangential face-milling cutters and inserts for heavy roughing has been launched by Dormer Pramet. The tangential mounting of the double-sided inserts is said to ensure rigid clamping that delivers at least 30% higher tool life in heavy conditions compared with radial options.

For use on Pramet's S60LN15C cutter, with a 60° approach angle, the tangential inserts LNEX are suitable for face-milling of cast iron and steel.

To support the range of cutters, Dormer Pramet has developed the M and KR chipbreakers. M has a positive geometry for standard workpieces and promotes low cutting forces, while KR has a more negative geometry for hard workpieces and is Dormer Pramet's first choice for heavy cutting conditions.

The inserts have been produced using the recently released grades M5326, M8326 and M8346, which were developed specially for heavy milling to offer additional durability.
