CoroTurn SL interactive tool makes parting and grooving choices easier

Sandvik Coromant has unveiled its CoroTurn SL interactive tool, having recognised the sometimes confusing nature of selecting the optimum adaptor and blade combination for parting and grooving operations.

The modular nature of the CoroTurn SL system means that the number of possible tool combinations is high. With this in mind, Sandvik Coromant has designed www.tool-builder.com with the aim of simplifying the entire process to little more than a few mouse clicks. The first step is to select either an external diameter, internal diameter or face grooving application. In the case of face grooving operations, the user is then prompted to indicate if the tool position is located above or below the workpiece centreline. The next stage, for internal, external diameter and face grooving tasks, is to select the tool itself, with a multitude of straight, angle or 90° options available to match a large range of potential applications. The final step shows the user a 3D model of their optimised selection, complete with component parts. Here, the 3D model can be rotated, zoomed into and moved around, using straightforward mouse or keyboard functions. This helpful tool can be found at www.tool-builder.com and is also accessible through the Sandvik Coromant website, select Products & Solutions; Turning; Parting and Grooving, and click through to the tool-builder website.
