Controlling grippers with an iPad

The WSG 50 gripper from Schunk can be controlled via Ethernet TCP/IP, as well as Profibus DP.

The two communication protocols, integrated control and electronics ensure maximum compatibility when integrated with other systems. It also has an integrated web server for configuration and diagnostics. That makes programming, putting it into operation, remote maintenance and its provision with updates, using an Apple iPad for example, extremely simple. The WSG 50 gripper has a stroke of 110 mm and a variable gripping force between 1 and 120 N, with a gripping speed of 850 mm/s. It can be used to safely and reliably handle components that deviate significantly in terms of their sensitivity. With the electronics integrated in the claw jaws, the WSG 50 gripper is able to measure the forces that occur during gripping by means of its sensors. The gripper fingers are automatically identified and the corresponding parameters are selected. This feature makes it ideal for handling sensitive samples in laboratories, pharmaceutical plants, research facilities as well as for measuring and testing applications. The gripper is equipped with an internal MicroSD card for saving programs and documents.
