Cognex introduces micron level accuracy DS1000 3D inspection device
Machine vision system company Cognex has announced its DS1000 3D laser profiling system. A Cognex proprietary high speed sensor and laser are both enclosed within an IP65-rated industrial housing.
Cognex says the DS1000 3D's sensor is can calibrate 'real-world' units of measurement with micron level accuracy in inspection applications too difficult to perform with traditional 2D machine vision.
The device is capable of reading embossed or raised characters such as those on automobile tyres; verifying the presence of low-contrast items in boxes or packages; identifying surface defects and chips with low or no contrast; measuring heights and tilts of components to determine misalignments; and calculating volumes and dimensions for food portioning.
