ChaseMill Mini inserts suit mould and die applications

The ChaseMill Mini line of milling inserts gives end users dramatic feed rate improvements, especially when combining the inserts with TaeguTec’s super-fine-pitched ChaseMill Mini cutter.

Ideal for the mould and die industry, the new insert line can be applied to cast iron as well as carbon, alloy, mould and die, hardened and stainless steels. In addition, the large cutting edge of the insert and long cutter overhang enables deep pocket machining. Regardless of overhang length, the radial cutting forces are directed towards the spindle to provide vibration-free cutting. This design delivers maximum rigidity and outstanding surface finishes whilst enabling feed rates that outperform competitor tools. The new ChaseMill Mini inserts can be inserted into the standard ChaseMill Mini end mill cutter bodies that have a diameter range of 10 to 40 mm. This diameter range opens up new possibilities for high feed machining at small diameter ranges. The inserts can also be applied to the 10 to 32 mm diameter modular cutting head and the 32 to 40 mm diameter face mill cutter. The small insert size enables a high number of teeth to be inserted to the cutter body. The high number of inserts combined with the positive helical cutting edge of the insert allows a feed rate of 1 mm per tooth with a 0.5 mm depth of cut. The 1.1° clearance angle of the insert provides ramping down capabilities to promote deep pocket machining. This insert design eliminates interrupted cutting on side walls and further improves surface finish.
