Autodesk upgrades Product Design Collection with simulation and CAM software

Autodesk has made major changes to its Product Design Collection, adding simulation and CAM tools to the design and engineering tools already included, and is rechristening it the Product Design & Manufacturing Collection.

Specifically, simulation software Nastran In-CAD and Autodesk HSM CAM software are added at no additional cost to the £2,748 per year subscription.

With this change, professional-grade modelling and design automation tools of Inventor Professional are now paired with simulation, 5-axis CAM and factory planning and optimisation tools – “all completely integrated into the Inventor experience”.

Users still get AutoCAD, Navisworks, Vault, ReCap Pro, 3ds Max, Factory Design Utilities and more.

Customers who subscribe to the Collection also get the benefit of a future-proofed toolset. While all updates for subscribers may not be as big as this one, Autodesk says it is committed to delivering continual enhancements to the included software, “incorporating disruptive tools like our cloud-based Fusion 360 product innovation platform, and adding new technologies like generative design”.
