XYZ Machine Tools expands as demand rises

XYZ Machine Tools has been granted planning permission for an 18,000 sq ft extension to its 60,000 sq ft main factory and administration centre in Burlescombe, Devon.

"Building work, including landscaping, should be completed by mid 2013, creating 15 new shopfloor bays and allowing the loading bay to be re-sited in a more convenient location at the far end of the extended building," saidmanaging director Nigel Atherton. The news comes on the back of two record-breaking years, with another successful series of 'open day' events taking place in its UK regional showrooms boosting demand further. The company reports demand for its CNC/manual and full-CNC models is such that sales of ex-demo machines have already cleared the company's showrooms in Waltham Abbey (London) and Blackburn, Lancs. This is allowing XYZ to pursue a rolling refurbishment and restocking programme with the next 'open days' event scheduled for 21-22 November at the Nuneaton showroom and demonstration facility, while the final 2012 event is pencilled in for the Devon headquarters, plus 23-24 January 2013 confirmed for the Sheffield showroom shared with cutting tool specialist WNT UK. "Floor space within XYZ is at a premium as a result of the increasing level of orders," Mr Atherton, explained. "Even though three quarters of the machines currently in stock have been sold and are scheduled for delivery, we will need more room for the new machines needed to meet the growing demand, hence the expansion."
