Worcester Presses sees upturn at home and abroad

Worcester Presses Ltd, the Stourbridge, West Midlands based power press manufacturer and sole UK representative for Taiwan based, Chin Fong Presses has seen an upturn in both export and UK demand for power presses and other ancillary equipment with orders in excess of £160,000 being received during February 2007.

Export orders lead the way with three 6-ton friction clutch high speed bench presses being ordered for delivery during May 2007 to a company in Egypt. These presses follow a similar machine sold to them four years ago and will be used as part of three new separate automated production lines. Four 3-ton bench presses have been sold to a company in Ireland manufacturing components for the European market, while a plastics testing Company in the USA has purchased a mini granulator to reduce plastic waste to granules. In the UK, the company has sold a 6-ton geared bench press and a 10-ton re-conditioned bench press to companies in the South of England, while a re-conditioned Chin Fong 45 ton ‘C’ frame single crank press has been sold to a company in the Midlands. “We have noticed that the market is much more buoyant in the first three months of 2007 and this is reflected in both orders and enquiries we have received, which is very encouraging," said Charles Higgins, managing directo. "One of the orders is from a company, who has decided to invest in our experience and technology rather than purchase from a low cost country, while other customers are replacing old equipment with new to increase their production, a factor noted in the market intelligence we have seen. There appears to be some recovery in UK manufacturing, which makes us more positive for the future.”
