WNT becomes Premium Partner in 4x4 In Schools Technology Challenge

This mean that WNT (UK) joins Jaguar Land Rover and the Institution of Engineering and Technology as Premium Partners, and represents an extension of WNT (UK)'s existing educational initiatives. These have seen WNT work closely with schools and colleges to provide technical assistance to teachers and support staff, and access to the entire WNT catalogue of cutting tools at significant discounts. "By enthusing children at an early age about design and manufacture, that interest will, hopefully, remain with them as they make career choices. By partnering with the 4x4 in Schools Technology Challenge, we are building on our long-standing commitment to support schools and colleges with cutting tool technology and technical support," Tony Pennington, managing director, WNT (UK). As part of this partnership, WNT's 29-strong technical sales team is being put forward to become STEM Ambassadors (Science, Technology, English and Maths). This will allow them to provide mentoring and support to teams that have entered the challenge, plus act as judges for the competition at the UK regional and national finals. While the title of the challenge refers to schools, it is also open to teams created from out of school initiatives, such as STEM Clubs, Scouts, Guides, cadets, Youth Clubs, etc. WNT sales teams are fully briefed on the criteria, and if any customers want to encourage their children to take part, they will provide whatever help they can. The 4x4 in Schools Challenge is managed by Engineering in Motion. The brief for the teams entering is to work together to design and build a radio-controlled four-wheel-drive vehicle within pre-determined specifications, to a strict monetary budget, with the fun part being to test their vehicles over a purpose-built 'off road' course designed to simulate the conditions that a full size Land Rover has to be able to handle.
