CADCAM software specialist Vero Software is celebrating 20 years since its formation.

Vero began on October 2, 1988 in a farmhouse in Northern Italy with just the founders and two employees producing CADCAM software. Today the UK public company listed on the AIM section of the London Stock Exchange is a leading supplier of software to the mould and die sector headquartered in Cheltenham, UK and with further offices in Italy, France, USA, Canada, Japan and China. The group now has more than 7,000 users registered for its annual maintenance services and supplies products to more than 40 countries through its wholly owned subsidiaries and competence centres. The company produces software for aiding the design and manufacturing process in specific sectors of the industry. These include the design and manufacture of plastic injection moulds, sheet metal stamping dies, multi axis machining, progressive dies, shoe moulds, electrode production and many others. Its products encompass VISI, machining STRATEGIST, SMIRT and PEPS. Gerry O’Driscoll, research and development director and one of the original founders said: “Twenty years ago, PC-based multi-axis machining and plastic flow analysis was unthinkable and yet today these same technologies provide everyday benefits to tens of thousands of our users. Our sustained success and uninterrupted growth has been achieved by building very practical solutions based on the comments and suggestions of active customers”. Don Babbs, chief executive and also one of the original founders, added: “Most small companies have the sales experience of hearing a customer question as to whether they will be around in a few years time. Very few companies achieve the satisfaction of growing their revenues every year since inception and being around 20 years later when most of the so-called giants in the sector have long disappeared.” In conjunction with the 20th anniversary, Vero has announced the latest release of its flagship product VISI. Version 16 is a substantial release with many new features in all areas of the product, including an updated user-interface, new surface modelling technology, 3D bend development and multiple enhancements to both 2D and 3D CAM.
