Top management changes at Mapal UK

John Claypole will be stepping down from his role of Mapal UK's managing director at the end of the year, remaining as a director, with Wayne Whitehouse taking on the role of general manager on 1 January 2012.

The changes are being made at Mr Claypole's request because, at the age of 65 and after 31 years of selling Mapal products, including 18 successful years as MAPAL UK managing director, he believes the time has come for him to move to a position that will allow him more time to share with his wife and family, and to indulge his passion for angling. He has led the company to its currently strong position – the company's turnover and growth are breaking all records, and 2011 is firmly on track to be the most successful year in the company's history. Mr Whitehouse has been with Mapal for more than 17 years, in which time he has worked in manufacturing, the service department, and as a sales and applications engineer. His current role is area manager for high profile accounts, a position in which he has made major contributions to the company's growth and current success. Said Mr Claypole: "Working with Mapal and being given the opportunity to set up and develop such a thriving UK operation has, for me, been a dream come true. Throughout my time with the company, I have received outstanding support from Dr Kress, the owner of Mapal, and from many others in our German headquarters. I'd also like to pay tribute to our UK staff, many of whom have been with me since I first set up the UK business in 1993. Without their effort and dedication, success would have been impossible." Mr Whitehouse commented: "I'm delighted to be taking up the new position of general manager of Mapal UK at such an exciting time in the company's history, and I'll be working closely with John to ensure that our momentum in the market is maintained and increased. There's no doubt that Mapal is, as ever, at the forefront of cutting tool innovation and we have some very ambitious plans for future growth, including a major expansion in our aerospace operations."
