As part of its role to promote the advancement of precision engineering companies in the UK, The Tooling Trust has given a grant to Mouldtech Solutions, for assistance in funding an advanced training course for EdgeCAM software, with particular emphasis on the design and machining of solid models and advanced surface design.

"The driver for this training was for the business to become more cost-effective. As a result of completing the course, thanks to the support of The Tooling Trust, Mouldtech has benefited greatly, as we can now program all of our jobs on-site and be in a position to react immediately, to customer requirements. We also have much greater control over our machine tools as we are not totally reliant on sub-contract programming. This flexibility makes Mouldtech Solutions much more competitive. As toolroom manager I also have much more control over how jobs are progressed through the company," said Andy Wills, toolroom manager, at Mouldtech. The five-day course cost £1,495 and The Tooling Trust grant contributed £900 towards this. The grants are awarded in line with The Tooling Trust's role to provide support for companies operating in the precision manufacturing technologies sector. Grants are awarded on merit, with companies submitting applications which are closely monitored by the Trust's Board. "This is just the type of company that The Tooling Trust is keen to support - a small, progressive organisation that sees that training is vital to its future growth and success," says Tony Smith, chairman of The Tooling Trust.
