Tooling specialist appoints managing director

The £360 million, 6,400 employee Leitz Association that incorporates the Leitz Metalworking Technology Group (LMT) has appointed Trevor Tolley as UK managing director of LMT Fette, based at Longford, Coventry.

His brief is to build a direct sales and distribution network around the company’s high performance cutting tool, tool holding, tool management and carbide products. The Coventry based operation comprises six manufacturing companies all of which are represented in the UK under the LMT Fette banner. They include Belin boring tools, Bilz tool holders, Böhlerit carbide tooling and material processing, Fette tooling, hobbing and threading equipment, Kieninger carbide, diamond and cubic boron nitride (CBN) tooling and Onsrud Cutter, a US based routing tool specialist in the machining of aluminium and plastics. Mr Tolley brings a high level of tooling expertise to the Coventry operation built up over 24 years in the industry when he progressed from area sales manager to European general manager. “The product range of LMT Fette is vast with the added advantage of high levels of research and development, covering all aspects of production and mould and die machining,” underlines Mr Tolley. Altogether some 30,000 products are in the company portfolio – most are in-house developed for higher performance and problem solving with many having international patents. The strength of the company is in its specialist application team with the advantage of technical support from the European parent operations of the six companies in the LMT Group. This fast developing business employs 3,000 people with international sales of well over £200 million.
