TechCADCAM, UK distributor for GibbsCAM, celebrated its 25-year anniversary in April.

GibbsCAM software itself hails from 1982, with founder Bill Gibbs setting up and developing software with an emphasis on user-friendliness. GibbsCAM became part of the Cimatron Group in 2008 – the year in which Cimatron celebrated its 30th anniversary. GibbsCAM is strong in mill-turn and multi-task machining (MTM) applications, with the company having previewed the entire suite of the forthcoming GibbsCAM 2013 software release at the 2013 Precision Machining Technology Show (PMTS), held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio, April 16-18, 2013. GibbsCAM Multi-Task (MTM) supports all the functions of both standard and Swiss-style multi-task machines, including thread whirling, B-axis turning, B-axis milling with Y-offset, full 5-axis simultaneous machining, and interactive and automatic synchronisation of multiple flows. The GibbsCAM NC programming system for MTM, says the company, allows manufacturers to safely and efficiently program the most advanced and sophisticated multi-tasking machines with multiple turrets and spindles. Furthermore, Gibbs creates unique post-processors for each machine and control combination, based upon MTM machine parameters and customer preferences, ensuring that each post-processor is optimised for each customer's requirements. Gibbs has delivered over 1,000 unique post-processors for both standard and Swiss style MTM machines, including the most complex machines from Citizen, Doosan, Ganesh, Haas, Hanwha, Index-Traub, Mazak, Miyano, Mori Seiki, Nakamura Tome, Okuma, Star CNC, Tornos, Tsugami, and Willemin-Macodel. "Collaboration with machine tool builders continues to help us stay on the leading-edge of Multi-Task Machining CNC programming software," explains Robb Weinstein, senior vice president of sales and strategic planning of Gibbs and Associates. "For the last 10 years, Gibbs has been a leader in supporting full functionality for programming 'standard' MTM machines. During the last few years, GibbsCAM has become a recognised leader in programming Swiss style MTM machines, too."
