Sheet metalworker Allsops is one of top 1,000 companies to inspire Britain

Huddersfield-based sheet metal company Allsops has been named as one of the top 1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain, collectively the "the innovators of tomorrow".

The report, published by London Stock Exchange Group, identifies the UK's most exciting, fast-growing and dynamic small and medium-sized enterprises. The report highlights companies that have shown revenue growth in at least three of the past four years and have also outperformed their sector peers, not only in terms of revenue, but either by growth in employee numbers, work space occupied or number of filed patents. Ian Johnson, finance director at Allsops said: "We are delighted to have been named as one of the London Stock Exchange Group's 1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain. Despite the recession, we have continued to grow our client base, expand through continued investment in the latest machinery and recruit more staff. To be recognised as one of top companies to inspire Britain is a great accolade, one we are all proud of." Founded in 1959, the company's Honley site covers 84,000 square feet. It employs 120 staff and has designed and manufactured sheet metal products for some of the best-known companies in the world, including the Ministry of Defence and BT. Allsops is one of 183 companies listed by the report in the Engineering, Defence and Aerospace sectors, second only to Construction and Real Estate's 184, the highest figure. Finance boasted 140 nominations. In terms of geographical spread 267 of the thousand are located in Greater London, followed by 127 in the South East, 109 in the North West, 84 in Yorkshire & Humber, 81 in the West Midlands, 78 in the East of England, 72 in the South West, 61 in Scotland, 50 in the East Midlands, 33 in North East England, 22 in Northern Ireland and 16 in Wales.
