Sandvik Coromant UK to get new managing director

Cutting tool and tooling systems specialist Sandvik Coromant UK has named Magnus Ekback as its new managing director, effective 1 August. He is currently vice president research & development.

Sandvik Coromant UK's current managing director, Dave Purchase, will take up a role as adviser to the Sandvik Coromant executive management group before retiring later this year. "I want to thank Magnus for his dedicated work as vice president for R&D and for his great contributions to the Sandvik Coromant executive management group. I wish him the very best of luck in his new position," says Tom Erixon, president of Sandvik Coromant. "I also want to thank Dave Purchase for his successful contributions to the Sandvik Coromant business during many years of loyal service." Mr Ekback comes from Sweden and has been vice president of R&D at Sandvik Coromant since 2004. His other roles have included: senior manager of R&D cutting tools; product manager of milling at Sandvik Coromant US; and manager of product support for turning and development engineer for turning. Mr Ekback holds an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Linköping University. He is married and has three children and enjoys golf, ice hockey and skiing, in his spare time.
