Sandvik Coromant 3D models now available online

Sandvik Coromant products can now be downloaded as 3D models.

Nearly 7,500 solid models are available in simplified 3D STEP format to allow customers to undertake rapid and straightforward collision simulations. At the company's website, users can search for 3D product models by machining area (drilling, milling, turning, tooling systems) or product family such as CoroDrill, CoroMill and CoroTurn. Mounting types can be selected subsequently. Collision checking has become increasingly important in modern machine shop environments, particularly when performing operations on multi-tasking or 5-axis machine tools. By checking for collisions at the programming stage it is possible to eliminate errors that could damage the workpiece/fixture, break the cutting tool or cause the machine to crash. Previous requests by customers for 3D models would have been handled by Sandvik Coromant sales engineers, who would obtain the necessary electronic files from the company's headquarters in Sweden. The new service offers faster, direct access.
