A Trumpf TruLaser 3030 (L20) 4 kW laser profiler is the latest addition in Responsive Engineering Group's ongoing multi-million pound investment programme.

This investment at the Gateshead-based group's cutting division (Streamline) has increased capacity, enabling the division to support increasing demand from within the Responsive Group, as well as from a growing external customer base. The introduction of the new TruLaser not only increases capacity but also productivity, via the latest laser technology. This includes, single-head cutting strategy and intelligent cutting interface, which allows cutting across all material grades and thicknesses, together with fast automatic nozzle changing and automatic laser beam alignment. The new investment at Streamline enhances existing laser cutting technology and sits alongside existing multiple waterjet cutting machines. The privately owned Responsive Engineering Group has expanded from a turnover of less than £4 million in 2005 to circa £15 million for 2012. Growth is expected to continue and the Group will make further significant investments in technology and, importantly, the workforce development - it employs 180 people, but sees this expanding to nearer 220 in the coming 12 months. Peter Bernard, managing director, said: "This latest investment is part of a planned expansion programme that will strengthen our existing business and support continued growth ensuring response to our customers is maintained. "By equipping all of our engineering divisions with the most advanced technology available, we are better equipped than ever to meet customer demands increased capacity." In addition to the group's laser and waterjet cutting division, the company also operates specialist divisions for high precision CNC machining, welding and fabrication, assembly, high pressure testing and pressing activities.
