Tool-holding specialist Gewefa UK is revealing details of the products being featured by its partners at MACH 2020 (Birmingham NEC, 20-24 April). In the UK, Gewefa represents EWS, OTT-Jakob, Pibomulti, Nann, Rineck and Fahrion, all of which will be featured on Stand 652 in Hall 20, alongside its own tool-holding capabilities.

Driven-tool specialist EWS will be majoring on the Varia quick-change tool-holding system. With Varia, spindle tooling can be achieved in as little as 20 seconds, while the ability to pre-set sister tooling off the machine further enhances productivity. With its single clamping point, the securing of tools is achieved without any radial force.

German spindle specialist OTT-Jakob will be featuring its PowerCheck spindle monitoring system, alongside a range of the company’s recently introduced rotary unions. PowerCheck is an adaptable component that can be used as a portable service tool or, in larger machine shops, be permanently located (exactly as a tool holder) in the machine’s carousel to supply ongoing data on spindle condition.

The connection to the handheld data collector is wireless so an operator can monitor information collected from up to eight different machine locations. Over 8,000 readings can be stored on the handset, with these easily downloaded to a USB for transfer to a laptop or network computer system.

Swiss speeder and angle-head specialist Pibomulti has a further addition to its Rainbow range of angle heads. The latest head is able to clamp up to 12 mm diameter tool shanks via a Gewefa hydraulic clamping system, which also eliminates the use of reduction sockets. In addition, a fully mechanical 360° orientation head is featured that is particularly suitable for use in a Makino Mag1 tool changer due to its compact size. Able to index at any orientation, compressed air gains access through the centre of the input shaft (to actuate the 360° pneumatic system).

The newest addition to Gewefa’s partner portfolio is Fahrion, with Gewefa exclusively representing products from the Fahrion Precision Centro P Premium range of collet chucks. Gewefa is supporting three products from Premium programme – Ultra Power Chucks, Dynamic Performance Chucks and Mini Precision Chucks.

Ultra Power Chucks (UPC) are designed to optimise material removal rates on high-performance machines with high rigidity and drive power.

The Dynamic Performance Chucks (DPC) are designed for machines with less stability and drive power, but usually with higher spindle and axis speed. DPC is suitable for trimming, finishing and roughing, with all processing tasks able to be performed using the same chuck.

Finally, Mini Precision Chucks (MPC) are designed for use with high-speed spindles or for operating in tight spaces.

There will also be two newly developed collets from Nann on show. The company’s MSK manually operated collet chucks can be used for both external and internal clamping, while the latest spindle unit range is for use with draw-back collets, dead length collets and expanding collets.

Completing the picture from Gewefa, specialist tool holding and heat-shrink clamping expert Rineck will be featuring a range of its Capto tool holders and threaded adaptors.
