New head of Walter GB

Tooling supplier Walter GB has appointed Ashley Battison as its new managing director, succeeding Gerry O’Hagan, who is taking early retirement at the end of March after 29 years with the company, including 13 years as managing director.

Formerly key account manager at Sandvik Coromant UK, Battison joined Walter GB in January to ensure a smooth handover at the company’s Bromsgrove headquarters. With extensive experience in sales, business development and leadership, the apprentice-trained 41-year-old also holds an MSc degree.

Battison says: “Gerry and the team here have established a UK market-leading operation spearheaded by a comprehensive range of products and services. Combined with its Walter ‘Engineering Kompetenz’ expertise, it consistently helps solve production problems in the most cost-effective manner. A major aim will be to reinforce that philosophy by growing our partnerships with existing customers while also continuing to extend into new business areas.”
