New face in the North East for XYZ

Eric Tollett has joined XYZ Machine Tools as area sales manager covering the north east of England from Yorkshire up to the Scottish border region. He is based in Hebburn, close to Newcastle.

An experienced engineer, he served a full modern apprenticeship in Gateshead, before going on to gain ONC, HNC and HND qualifications in mechatronics. This experience led him to work in the machine tool industry, initially as a service engineer, before becoming involved on project engineering and eventually machine tool sales, a role he has had for the past five years.

This experience and his existing knowledge of the sales territory that he will cover for XYZ Machine Tools will allow him to quickly develop sales for XYZ, in what is already a strong area for the Burlescombe-based company.

Tollett says: “This new opportunity is an exciting one for me. XYZ are obviously very well-known in the market place already, but I intend to use my knowledge and experience to introduce even more customers to the benefits of buying from XYZ, such as the quality and value for money of the machine range. It will be refreshing to work with such a diverse customer base as well, which ranges from one-man businesses through to blue-chip companies. It will be hectic to begin with, but as a former runner that represented England at under-23 level, I think I have the energy for that, even if a few years have passed since then.”

Speaking of Eric’s appointment, XYZ Machine Tools’ managing director, Nigel Atherton adds: “It is a pleasure to welcome Eric to the team. His previous experience at shopfloor, service and sales levels will be an asset as it aligns very much with our philosophy of supporting customers at all levels.”
