Moore Special Tool unveils next-generation 5-axis machine

Moore Special Tool Company has launched a next-generation 5-axis machining centre plus a full bundle of new integration services to provide “plug and play” ease in stepping up to automated world-class 5-axis production machining.

The contouring centre itself, called the Moore FSP 300X Plus, is based on the Moore FSP 300X machine, a proven portal-type machining centre with a fixed-position horizontal spindle and Siemens 840D control, designed from the ground up for high-performance 5-axis machining. Principal applications have been in 24/7 machining environments for turbomachinery and medical devices, world-class mould and die shops and high-end contract manufacturing plants. Unique in this segment of the 5-axis field, says the company, the FSP 300X Plus brings the work to the spindle. The spindle remains fully retracted and supported, eliminating the “pendulum effect” that can "plague extended spindles". Direct drive rotary axes are integral to the machine, not bolt-on.
