Yamazaki Mazak’s recent Grand Prix themed event attracted over 100 manufacturers to its Worcester European headquarters, and saw four significant orders taken.

Mazak is a Vodafone McLaren Mercedes technical partner, supplying machine tools to the racing outfit’s Woking headquarters, and had the official Vodafone McLaren Mercedes race simulator at the in-house event. The event took the form of a five lap ‘race’ with each group of customers having the opportunity to view presentations and live cutting demonstrations on Mazak’s latest machine tool developments, in particular the new Hyper Quadrex 150MSY mill-turn and Variaxis 630-5X-II T 5-axis machining centre, which are said to offer significant improvements in productivity through a variety of in-built design features as well as the latest Intelligent Functions. Additionally there were interactive sessions designed to help customers obtain further benefits from the Mazatrol Matrix control system and Mazak’s Done-In-One machining philosophy, as well as the opportunity to view Mazak’s state-of-the-art European manufacturing plant. Every guest was also given the opportunity to pit their driving skills against the best in the official Vodafone McLaren Mercedes race simulator. “We were delighted with the enthusiasm of our guests for the latest Mazak machine tool technology. With more than 100 guests, this indicates the ongoing commitment of manufacturers in the UK and Ireland to be at the leading edge in productivity,” says Yamazaki Mazak sales director, Tony Saunders. “In addition to securing four significant orders during the event, we are excited by the high level of interest we are currently experiencing in our Mazatrol Matrix control and Done-In-One machining techniques.” Pictured: Sam Inskip (right), Partner Co-ordinator at McLaren Marketing Ltd. presents Wednesday’s winner of the Mazak Grand Prix Race Challenge, Neil Evans, Tyco Electronics, with his Vodafone McLaren Mercedes World Championship T-shirt, signed personally by Lewis Hamilton.
