Mazak apprentice targets 2018 drag racing success

Yamazaki Mazak apprentice Jasmine Cordelle, 18, is targeting drag bike racing success in the 2018 season starting in March.

She will be competing in six Junior Drag Bike championships during the course of the 2018 season at the Santa Pod Raceway in Northamptonshire.

The third-year mechanical apprentice, who works in the Spindle Service Centre at Mazak’s Worcester-based European Manufacturing Plant and is on a BTEC Mechanical Engineering Pathway, will be racing her 1,200cc Suzuki engine drag bike she built with her father, Brett Cordelle.

The bike, which has a top speed of more than 120 mph, will compete in the six national championships scheduled for the year.

She was previously Junior Champion in 2014 and won Best Appearing Bike in 2017.
