The new Manufacturing South West exhibition held at XYZ Machine Tools' recently expanded site draws 18 manufacturing technology suppliers, including representatives from areas such as toolmaking, sheetmetal, prototyping and training sectors.

To be held on 9 and 10 October at the recently extended 90,000 ft² Business Park, Burlescombe, Tiverton, Devon, location, the event is open to visitors that pre-register on XYZ's website (www.xyzmachinetools.com). Machining processes including turning, milling, CNC sliding-head mill-turning, 5-axis machining, EDM, sheetmetal forming and punching, laser profiling and water-jet cutting, surface grinding, tooling and sawing and cutting-off will all be present. In addition to machinery, there is also a host of ancillary products on show, including cutting tools, workholding, barfeeds and material handling, coolants, filtration, and swarf management, plus effective component cleaning systems. Added to that will be 3D measurement, probing, gauging, calibration and non-contact measurement, as well as the latest CADCAM and control systems, all add to the all-embracing productivity enhancements on view. XYZ will have 15 of its own machine tools in operation, some demonstrating other exhibitors' equipment, including a visitor-led challenge where 'on-the-spot' programming of customer parts on the ProtoTRAK control will be carried out showing the simplicity of the system, using the latest Verify software. This will include areas such as turning, grooving, drilling and threading, milling pocketing and island machining using mostly WNT (UK) tooling. WNT will also show its latest developments, such as Mastermill 250 milling cutters and HF insert drills. The UK's leading suppliers also include Sodi-Tech EDM, which is launching two new products, its entry-level SL400Q wire EDM and AD35L LNC die sinker; with Star Micronics GB demonstrating the newly released SR-20R lV, 41 tool position CNC sliding-head lathe and a 7-axis SR-32J machine. For the sheetmetal sector, Bystronic's latest electrically powered Xcite 180F press brake will be running, while Wilson Tool's launch of its 'revolutionary' thick turret HPX/EXP punching technology as well, as its range of press brake tools and clamping devices, will be shown, with Prosaw focusing on its range of bandsaw and circular sawing machines Aberlink Metrology will provide benchmark performance tests on its CMM and Project X vision system, while Renishaw will demonstrate its Equator high speed comparative gauging system. Optical microscopes and video measurement will be seen on the Vision Engineering stand and, from Siemens, there'll be the company's latest control and software, plus the Sinu Train training package, which visitors can check out. Delcam's range of PowerMILL, FeatureCAM, PartMaker and ArtCAM programs, plus PowerINSPECT, are being demonstrated, and Avon CNC Machine Tools is providing a simultaneous 5-axis demonstration direct from CADCAM data, using its Lehmann compact tilt and rotary unit on an XYZ 710 VMC. Filtermist will feature its range of centrifugal oil mist extractors, Jemtech UK its Blaser Swisslube coolant and MecWash its Duo aqueous component cleaning capability. From 1st MTA, a whole host of workholding devices, including IEMCA barfeed systems, will be demonstrated, while LNS is to showcase its HPC coolant systems, barfeed, conveyor systems and HPC coolant systems. In addition to advice on finance, the Manufacturing Advisory Service will have an advisor available to discuss grant availability and talk about how it can help to achieve business growth.
