Axis Machine Tool Engineers is to host the Scottish Machine Tool Exhibition at new, purpose-built showroom in East Kilbride, Scotland from 10-12 March.

The exhibition will feature over £1 million of new and used machine tools from leading names such as XYZ Machine Tools, Dugard Machine Tools, Victor Machine Tools, Huvema Machine Tools and FLOW. Many of these machines will be under power and using some of the latest cutting tool technology from WNT (UK), probing from Renishaw and CAM systems from Edgecam among others. Speaking of his decision to participate in the exhibition Glenn Stanton, UK and Ireland Sales Manager, WNT (UK) said: “When we were approached by John Morning at Axis it didn’t take very long to realise what an opportunity this event presented. The investment that Axis has made in its new showroom reflects the positive outlook of WNT (UK), and the potential for new business in Scotland is something that we are eager to tap into. Given the location, we will also be encouraging our customers from across the north of England to attend what will be a very pro-active event with lots of new technology on display.” Central to WNT’s demonstrations at the exhibition will be the HPC and HFC ranges of high performance milling cutters. These will be shown on an XYZ 560 MiniMill and will highlight the ability of these cutters to dramatically improve productivity and increase metal removal rates on machine tools with relatively small spindles and power outputs. An added incentive to attend is WNT’s offer of a free Sat-Nav system for the first 10 existing or new customers on each day of the exhibition who place an order over £50.00 in value. Jim Kirkwood, managing director, Axis Machine Tool Engineers says: “As well as acting as the official launch of our new showroom, this Scottish Machine Tool Exhibition will serve as a confidence boost for manufacturing in Scotland. We are seeing a good level of enquiries at the moment, with the overall market performing better than the rest of the UK thanks to ongoing investment in the oil and gas sector. Looking further forward we can see an increase in demand for machine tools once the order for the Royal Navy’s aircraft carriers start to filter through. “This event will also mark the expansion of our business into the used machine tool market and a major announcement about this side of the business will be made in the near future in connection with this new division of Axis Machine Tool Engineers. These are very exciting times and we have a very positive outlook for the coming 12 months.” The exhibition will be open between 10:00 and 18:00 on 10 and 11 March, and between 10:00 and 20:30 on 12 March, with curry being served from 17:00. Axis Machine Tool Engineers will be encouraging teachers, lecturers and those with purchasing authority from across the education sector to attend the exhibition on the 10 March. Anyone wishing to attend can contact Karen Kirkwood or John Morning at Axis Machine Tool Engineers on 01355 590811 for more details of exhibits or directions.
