Hyundai-Kia SKT MTS 4-axis multi-tasking turning centres are now available immediately from stock from exclusive UK and Ireland distributor Ward CNC.
A major benefit of the SKT 2500 MTS is its 18.5 kW, 8,000 rpm, high-torque B-axis milling head and the 4,500 rpm sub-spindle with full C axis capability (that complements the 30 kW main spindle) which, with 'kissing spindle' design, enables synchronised part exchange at 30 m/min rapid traverse.
The milling head that has + 120° rotation with 0.001° indexing through a heavy duty, dual-lead worm gear and servo motor. The head has the added advantage of 250 mm Y-axis stroke for off-centre feature machining and a Z-axis stroke of 1,100 mm servicing both main and sub spindles.
The milling head slide (which also accommodates standard lathe tooling) also carries a 22-tool magazine (optionally, 43 or 65) that provides a tool change time of just 1.5 secs and chip-to-chip time of 5 secs. The maximum tool size is 95 mm diameter, which can be extended to 104 mm when adjacent pockets are empty.
With a bar capacity of 76 mm, a 10 inch chuck size and options of programmable tailstock, the SKT MTS has a maximum turning diameter and length of 500 mm and 1,100 mm, respectively, while the swing over the bed is 780 mm. Fanuc 18i-TB is the control system.
An optional, fully programmable 110 mm diameter quill tailstock can be specified.
