Guhring catalogue boasts productivity boosting technology

The 2012 Guhring Catalogue, now in its 42nd Edition, is available and contains over 1,700 pages that feature the very latest in tooling technology available as standard products.

For drilling, Guhring offers new carbide drill ranges for stainless steel, titanium, together with an RT 100 HF ultra-high-performance programme for general applications. The optimised geometry, combined with the new SIGNUM coating that provides a surface hardness of 5500 Vickers, ensures that the highest machine rates and maximum tool life can be achieved. The popularity of inserted drilling technology is addressed by a complete new range of carbide inserts and toolholders for drilling depths of 1xD to 10xD, in a diameter range from 11.00 mm to 40.00 mm. Tapping includes many new ranges, with one interesting new variant of three styles of tap to produce MJ threads in special alloys (titanium and nickel). Milling has been extended, largely based on the successful high performance unequal helix design. Now new geometries are offered to cover wrought aluminium, special alloys and hardened steels. To meet the market requirements for composite machining, Guhring diamond coated and PCD milling cutters have been introduced. One particular product is the CR100 carbide diamond coated 'air cooled' tool, where the air is axially fed through the tool and exits back towards the shank at the cutting edge. Reaming, often considered as the 'slow process', has been completely rewritten by the success of the Guhring HR 500 range. These high performance reamers are solid carbide or cermet, oil feed, coated, straight-flute designed tools that operate at 'near punching' rates.
