French software companies get together to boost strength, breadth and reach

French CADCAM and ERP software firms Alma and Missler Software (UK, MCL CADCAM) are combining their activities, following a minority investment by Alma in the capital of FMS, Missler Software's holding company, which, says the company "should, in time, lead to the merger of the two companies, their products and their distribution networks".

This combination is expected to enable the 'AlmaMissler Group' offer a wider and integrated CAD/CAM/ERP product line and to reach the critical size needed to accelerate international growth, as well as releasing resources to finance R&D. Missler Software is a leading global supplier of CAD, CAM and ERP solutions, though its TopSolid its product line. Alma is a leading player in CADCAM software for sheet metalworking, cutting and robotics. While developing applicative software, Alma also sells its algorithms in the form of software components.
