Paul Mincher has been appointed general manager of Electrox, part of the 600 Group, involved in the design, development and manufacture of laser marking systems.

Mr Mincher has been with the company for over 15 years and has been instrumental in managing the changes brought about by the 600 Group's restructuring. He said: "Electrox like many businesses has not been unaffected by the ongoing economic turmoil, but the changes we have made internally have helped us to improve our efficiencies and customer service, providing us with a solid foundation from which to move forward and grow. We are beginning to see order levels return to a more normal level, with increased enquiries and order visibility." The changes include the creation of a dedicated technical support group, while the sales teams have been strengthened with the appointment of Peter Ramsden as sales director leading a more co-ordinated sales approach focussed on identifying new markets and applications. David Norman, chief executive of 600 Group said: "Electrox forms an important part of 600 Group as we go forward. Electrox has exciting prospects; there is a global requirement for the marking, identification and traceability of almost everything from cows to medical devices and packaging, the scope for laser marking of materials and applications is endless. Electrox is, I believe, in a better position now than it has ever been to exploit the market potential for laser marking." In the last six months, there have been a number of software developments, including a printer driver – enabling the laser to be used as a printer, an auto beam expander that removes the need for manual Z-axis adjustment, and a side-view camera function that allows for a live image of the process that reduces end-user time and costs.
