CERATIZIT acquires US carbide firm

Newcomer is CERATIZIT's third site in the US. A household name in the US carbide industry, Newcomer Products specialises in the manufacturing and finishing of tungsten carbide products for metalcutting and wear applications. From water-based spray dried powders to sinter-hip technology, Newcomer Products is on the leading edge of carbide enhancements and supplies major US metalworking industries. The company was founded in 1945, employs 130 people and realised sales of more than $20 million in 2006. Nate K. Parker Jr., chairman of Newcomer Products said: "We were looking for a partner with strong technological support and both a global view and strong roots in the US.
